The Lagos State Government has lifted its earlier declared curfew and returned to the Presidential Task Force-imposed curfew, which runs from midnight to 4am daily.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had declared a 24-hour curfew two weeks ago in the wake of #EndSARS protest to avert a total breakdown of law and order. This was later reviewed twice, 6pm-8am and 8pm-6am.
Vacating the stay-at-home order, the governor, who spoke through the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotosho, said people could now go about their normal business and comply with the COVID-19 curfew, from midnight to 4am.
He said, “The curfew imposed on Lagos State after the hijack of the peaceful #EndSARS protests has been lifted immediately. The 12am to 4 am curfew imposed by the Federal Government to curb the spread of COVID-19 remains.
“Lagosians are free to go about their business without any hindrance whatsoever. Security agencies will continue to discharge their duties.
“Lagosians are urged to cooperate with them to maintain the status of our state as one of the most peaceful.
“Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu thanks security agencies for their efforts in restoring peace to our troubled communities. He commends Lagosians for observing the curfew and ensuring the return of normalcy.”
