Lagos State Reports 160,000 Residents Living with HIV, 147,466 on Treatment
The Lagos State Government has disclosed that approximately 160,000 residents are currently living with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) in the state.
The update was provided by the Lagos State AIDS Control Agency (LSACA) during a World AIDS Day 2025 press briefing held on Thursday, November 27, at Alausa, Ikeja.
Presenting the state’s progress report, LSACA CEO Dr. Folakemi Animashaun said the figures reflect the latest estimates from January to September 2025, noting that 147,466 persons are currently on antiretroviral therapy (ART).

Dr. Animashaun praised the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, highlighting that his support has strengthened the state’s health systems and community networks, ensuring sustained efforts to prevent, detect, and treat HIV.
She emphasized that continued commitment from both the government and communities remains crucial to achieving the state’s goals in HIV prevention and treatment, particularly as Lagos works to enhance access to HIV care services and improve public health outcomes.
