Lagos to shut Eko-Apongbon Bridge again Sunday
The Lagos State government will Sunday (tomorrow) shut Eko Bridge inwards Apongbon for immediate remedial works.
This is coming a few days after it reopened the bridge which was closed for 15 months for rehabilitation.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transportation, Abdulhafiz Toriola, announced this in a statement on Saturday.
He said the closure would last for 24 only hours.
The 4.1-kilometre bridge links Lagos Island with the mainland and directly connects Apongbon to the island side.
It was initially shut on March 23, 2022, after many shops were raised by fire from the Apongbon market.
Toriola said the planned repair work on the bridge would be carried out by the Lagos State Public Works with the support of the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing.
He said personnel of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) had been deployed to control and manage traffic around CMS, Marina, Ijora, and other alternative routes on Lagos Island and the mainland.
