Lagos woman claims high infidelity among married women in Festac, Ago, Okota

A Lagos resident, Keren Effiong, has stirred controversy after alleging in a Facebook post that a large percentage of married women living in Festac, Ago Palace Way, Okota, and other parts of Amuwo-Odofin engage in infidelity.

In her post on Wednesday, November 20, Effiong claimed that “90% of the women” in the listed areas are unfaithful, urging married men whose wives live there to “save money for DNA tests.”

“If your wife lives in Festac, Amuwo Odofin, Okota and Ago Palace as a married man… note that it’s either she’s being ‘chopped’ by another man or by a fellow woman,” she wrote, adding that she was prepared for backlash.

“Try and not come for me because I wake up with stones in my hand,” she added in the now-viral post.

Effiong further warned men celebrating childbirth to conduct DNA confirmation rather than attack her for raising “the truth” about alleged behaviour in the neighbourhoods.

Her comments have generated mixed reactions online. While many dismissed her claims as reckless generalisation, others supported her stance.

One commenter, Ikenna Dike, who said he lives abroad, claimed that married women in Ago frequently flirt with him whenever he visits Nigeria.
“You need to see how married women do competition,” he said. “Most of these women, their husbands live abroad, so they use young men to ‘service and change oil’.”

The controversial remarks have continued to trend on social media, sparking debates about stereotypes, morality and marriage dynamics in Lagos communities.
