The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed the Cherubim and Seraphim (King of Kings) Church located within Georgius Cole Estate, Ifako Ijaiye, for operating illegally and causing persistent noise pollution in a residential area.
The enforcement action, which took place on Monday, October 20, was part of a broader crackdown on environmental infractions across the state. According to a statement posted by the agency on X (formerly Twitter), several establishments along College Road in Ifako Ijaiye and Lasu-Isheri Road in Igando were also sealed for repeated violations, including noise and air pollution.

Among the affected businesses were a fufu-making shop, cited for heat radiation and air pollution, and Tynonex Nigeria Limited, which was shut down for constituting an environmental nuisance.
General Manager of LASEPA, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, emphasized that the enforcement drive aims to safeguard public health and restore environmental sanity. He expressed concern over the church’s operations within a residential estate, noting that residents had lodged multiple complaints about excessive noise.
“As much as there is freedom of worship in Lagos State, no individual or group is permitted to infringe on the rights of others or negatively impact their health under the guise of religious activities,” Ajayi stated.
He urged residents and business owners to adhere strictly to environmental regulations, reaffirming LASEPA’s zero-tolerance stance on noise and other forms of pollution.
