LASTMA arrests hit-and-run truck driver in Lagos
On Monday, officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) apprehended a driver from a flour mills company after he struck a pedestrian and fled the scene in Lagos.
The incident occurred at Anthony Oke, in the Oshodi area of Lagos State, when the driver, operating a trailer owned by Honeywell Flour Mill Plc (registration number JJJ 764 XV), knocked down a pedestrian attempting to cross the expressway near the Total Filling Station.
According to a statement from Taofiq Adebayo, LASTMA’s Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, the pedestrian sustained serious injuries, including a broken left leg.

“LASTMA has successfully apprehended a truck driver involved in a hit-and-run incident earlier today (Monday) at Anthony Oke, heading towards Oshodi,” Adebayo confirmed in the statement.
The hit-and-run incident, which took place in the early hours of the day, caused concern among eyewitnesses and commuters in the area. Fortunately, the injured pedestrian received prompt attention from the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) and was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care.
This incident highlights the ongoing challenges of road safety in Lagos, where pedestrian injuries and fatalities often result from reckless driving. LASTMA’s swift response in apprehending the driver underscores the agency’s commitment to enforcing traffic laws and ensuring the safety of all road users.
