LASUMA 2025 AGM: Lagos Dep Gov to deliver keynote, scholarships for LASU students
The Lagos State University Muslim Alumni (LASUMA) is set to host its 2025 General Assembly and Awards Ceremony on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the Eko Club Bamboo Elegushi Hall, Surulere, commencing at 11:00 am. The event will bring together distinguished LASU alumni, public officials, and community leaders.
Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat, will deliver the keynote lecture, while Senator Dr. Idiat Adebule, a former Deputy Governor, will chair the ceremony. Invited royal fathers include HRM Saheed Elegushi, Oba Kolawole Abdulateef Lawal (Olumegbon of Lagos, Oba Ajah, and Okun Ajah Kingdom), and HRM Oba Surakat Noah Olayiwola Adefimihan (Oba Idimu Kingdom, Egbe-Idimu). The spiritual oversight for the event will be provided by Chief Imam of LASU, Prof. Kudus O. Amuni.

Special guests of honour include CP Lateef Ahmed (Commissioner of Police and PSO to the Inspector General of Police), Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa (Chairman, C-57 & Ibeju-Lekki LGA), Hon. Muhibat Rufai-Adeyemi (Chairman, Ojo LGA), Hon. Prince Idris Balogun (Chairman, Egbe-Idimu LCDA), as well as other political office holders and top public and corporate officials.
The guest lecturers will feature Hon. Dr. AbdulAkeem Abdul-Lateef, former legislator and commissioner, alongside Dr. Munirudeen Salaudeen Arriyady, Mudeer of Zamzam and lecturer at LASUED.
The theme of the 2025 LASUMA AGM is “Sustainable Economy: The Prophetic Model for Equity, Justice and Viable Economy.” The assembly aims to engage stakeholders in discussions on Nigeria’s socio-economic challenges, including insecurity, rising unemployment, economic instability, tax complexities, and leadership trust deficits, while proposing actionable strategies for sustainable development and improved governance.
In addition to dialogue, the AGM will recognize contributions of personalities and organizations through LASUMA Awards, while donors and the alumni body will present scholarships to undergraduate and postgraduate LASU students.
Dr. Abdul-Azeez Anjorin, LASUMA President, expressed optimism about a successful event that will reinforce alumni engagement and community development. The ceremony is hosted by Prof. BR. Yusuf (Chairman, LASU Muslim Community) and Prof. Ibiyemi I. Olatunji-Bello, mni (LASU Vice Chancellor), with the LASUMA 2025 AGM and Awards Committee chaired by Prof. Abideen Tijani and Mr. Mushafau Ige serving as secretary.
