Lionel Messi was stopped by Chinese border control over the weekend after travelling with the incorrect passport.
The 35-year-old landed in Beijing on Saturday to join his international teammates ahead of their friendlies against Australia and Indonesia.
The Inter Miami star reportedly travelled by private jet and was spotted with close friend, Angel Di Maria.
Although the flight proceeded as planned, border security initially refused to allow Messi to enter the Asian nation.
He was mobbed by officials and could be seen clutching his passport.
