Losing my husband was very tough – Ego Ihenacho

Singer Ego Ihenacho has said that losing her husband Niyi Ogbaro was very tough.

Ogbaro died in the United States in August 2023.

Speaking in a recent interview on QEDNG, Ego said losing her husband was tough but she had to remain strong for everybody.

She said: “It was tough for me when it happened, it was really tough but I’m the kind of person that… I like to be strong for everybody. So I can stand in the face of all these kinds of things but I have my moments. So it was very hard for me, the first month I was incommunicado, I didn’t want anything. I was just trying to process it and I’m not one to allow people into my private life, I really don’t. I just wanted to grieve, which I did and which is what I’m doing. It’s been a journey but I am good.”

Ego also recollected how Niyi would come to watch her sing and leave with her when she was still a member of Lagbaja’s band.

“He would wait until everybody had gone, like we’ll leave together and that’s like early morning. He will wait, then I was in GRA. We’ll take a cab together, then we’ll go home. The funny thing is we had dated before then sef, we had dated for like five years, we were friends, we’ve always been friends,” she added.
