The Labour Party’s Mathew Donatus Kozali, has been elected the House of Representatives member, Kaura constituency, Kaduna State.
He defeated the Minority Whip of the House of Representatives, Gideon Lucas Gwani, who contested the Saturday’s election under the Peoples Democratic Party.
Koazali polled 10,508 votes, while Gwani scored 10,297 votes, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Gwani was seeking to occupy the seat for the fifth time.
Announcing the result at Kaura Local Government secretariat in southern part of Kaduna, the Returning Officer of INEC, Prof. Elija D. Ella, declared Kuzai as the winner, while Prof Benjamin Gugong of All Progressives Congress came third with 9, 919 votes.
