Luka Modric backs Ancelotti to continue as Madrid coach after Champions league exit to Man City

Luka Modric has expressed his backing for Carlo Ancelotti to continue as Real Madrid manager despite the team’s 4-0 loss to Manchester City in the Champions League semi-final.

When asked whether the Italian should remain, Modric highlighted Ancelotti’s achievements and asserted that the defeat should not overshadow his contributions.

Ancelotti has been linked to the Brazil job in recent months.

Real Madrid have failed to defend their title after losing to Pep Guardiola’s side 5-1 on aggregate.

The Spanish club will finish the season with the Copa del Rey as the only trophy won, failing to beat rivals Barcelona to both La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup.

Speaking about Ancelotti’s future, Modric stated: “Yes, I think that the Mister (coach) deserves to continue. I have no doubts. Since he arrived for the second time, he won all the titles. Last year we had an incredible season.

“In Copa del Rey, in Champions League, we did very well until today. That’s why I have no doubt about him staying.
