Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has inaugurated the 65km Moniya-Ijaiye-Iseyin Road in Ibadan.
He did this with his Benue State counterpart, Samuel Ortom, as part of activities to mark his second anniversary in office.
The ceremony was held at Akerele Local Government in Ibadan and Iseyin Town in Iseyin Local Government.
Makinde said the road costing N9.9bn or N152m per kilometre for total reconstruction and built by Kopek Construction Ltd was expected to last at least 10 years without any rehabilitation.
The Moniya-Ijaiye-Iseyin Road is the link between Ibadan and Oke-Ogun, the state’s ‘food basket’.
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who is also a member of the Oyo State Environmental Protection Tribunal, Mr Sheriff Adesina, advised the newly elected chairmen of local governments and local council development areas to emulate the practical approach of Governor Makinde while administering the councils.
Adesina, popularly called SSA in the political circle, in a congratulatory statement on Thursday, advised the new chairmen not to let down the electorate.
Adesina congratulated Rahman Adepoju and Gani Omotoso, chairman and vice chairman of Ibadan North/West local governments, on their victories in the election.
