Man arraigned for threatening to set wife, children ablaze in Ekiti

A 55-year-old man, Afolabi Samuel, has been arraigned by the police before a Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti for allegedly threatening to k!ll his wife and children.

The incident occurred on June 22, at about 9am, at the Olokuta Matthew area of Ado-Ekiti, where the accused allegedly threatened to kill his wife and children by setting them on fire with petrol and matches.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendants on the same date, time and place in the Magisterial District, did conduct himself in a manner likely to cause the breach of the peace.

The prosecutor told the court that the offence is punishable under Section 69, 181(d) Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria 2021.Green job opportunities

Counsel to the defendant, Joy Raphael, urged the court to admit his client to bail, saying he will not jump bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Abayomi Adeosun, granted the defendant a bail of N50,000, with one surety in like sum.

He consequently adjourned the case till July 22 for hearing.
