Man arrested in Bayelsa for sharing girl nude video on social media
The Bayelsa State Police Command has apprehended a man in connection with the distribution of a viral explicit video featuring a young girl on social media.
In a statement released on Friday by the command’s spokesperson, ASP Musa Mohammed, the arrest of the suspect was confirmed.
The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Godgift Bai from Ogbolomabiri in Nembe Local Government Area, was taken into custody in Yenagoa, the state’s capital, on September 3, 2024.

According to the police, “Following a directive from the Commissioner of Police, CP Alonyenu Idu, officers from the Cyber Crime Unit launched an investigation which led to the arrest of the suspect. The individual, Godgift Bai, is now in custody and will face legal action.”
The command condemned the misuse of social media to target vulnerable individuals, emphasizing its dedication to fighting cybercrime and related offenses. The police also issued a warning to the public, urging people to refrain from exploiting others online.
The investigation into the case is ongoing, and authorities assured that the suspect would be brought before the court soon.
