Man City beat Swansea to reach Carabao Cup quarters
Manchester City staged a late comeback to defeat Swansea City 3-1 and secure a spot in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
The Premier League giants fell behind early in the match after Goncalo Franco’s stunning 20-yard strike gave the Championship side a surprise lead. Swansea, currently 13th in the second tier, had made six changes to their starting line-up and looked poised to cause an upset.
Melker Widell nearly doubled the lead after intercepting a poor pass from Abdukodir Khusanov, but his low effort was pushed wide by City goalkeeper James Trafford.

Despite making 10 changes to his regular line-up, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola watched his side struggle to find rhythm in the first half. However, Jeremy Doku brought the visitors level before the break with a deflected shot that wrong-footed Swansea’s defence.
City dominated proceedings after the restart, with France international Rayan Cherki and Omar Marmoush—both returning from injury—playing key roles. Cherki struck the post before setting up Marmoush for City’s second goal 13 minutes from time.
Cherki sealed the win in added time with a composed low finish into the bottom corner, registering his first goal since August.
Manchester City, eight-time winners of the competition, will now host Brentford in the quarter-finals.
