Man killed while trying to separate fight in Adamawa
A tragic incident occurred in Adamawa State when a man, Markus Dali, was fatally punched while attempting to break up a fight.
Dali had intervened to separate Barka Yama and Alex Tari, who were engaged in a physical altercation in Sina Kwande community, Michika Local Government Area.
In an attempt to make peace, Dali became the victim as Barka Yama allegedly delivered a blow that knocked him unconscious, leading to his death.
The Adamawa State Police Command arrested 32-year-old Barka Yama and arraigned him before the Chief Magistrate Court I in Yola on a charge of culpable homicide.

The prosecuting officer, ASP Francis Audu, revealed that the incident occurred on August 30, 2024, and Dali lost consciousness after being struck, ultimately leading to his untimely death.
“He was later confirmed dead by a medical doctor after he was rushed to the hospital,” the police prosecutor said.
After the defendant pleaded guilty, the prosecutor urged the court to remand him in a correctional centre to enable the prosecution transmit the case diary to the Department of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
The court, presided over by Chief Magistrate Muhammed Njidda, granted the application and ordered that the defendant be remanded.
