Man removes private part over estranged wife’s refusal to return

A 50-year-old man, Modu Isa, is recovering in hospital after attempting to take his own life in Bama, Borno State.

Residents of Hausari Ward said the incident occurred on Friday evening, prompting locals to rush to his aid.

Security analyst Zagozola Makama reported on Saturday that Isa inflicted three stab wounds to his abdomen before cutting off his penis with a knife.

Investigations suggest he took the drastic step after his former wife, Bayanxe Modu of Konduga, whom he had divorced three times, refused to return to his home.

Police patrol officers arrived at the scene, recovered the weapon as evidence, and evacuated Isa to General Hospital, Bama, where he is said to be responding to treatment.

The case has since been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Maiduguri for further inquiry, sources confirmed.
