A commuter bus plunged into a canal at the Oworonshoki area of Lagos State on Monday, trapping many of its passengers.

Some of the passengers who were later rescued sustained different degrees of injuries.

It was learnt that the bus first had a punctured tyre and as the driver tried to regain control of the fast moving vehicle, it veered off and plunged into the canal

The actual number of passengers on the bus could not be ascertained as of press time on Monday, but sources said effort was on to rescue those trapped inside the bus.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Adekunle Ajisebutu, could not be reached for comments.
