Messi Not Coming To Manchester City, Says Guardiola

Manchester coach, Pep Guardiola, has ruled out signing free agent Lionel Messi this summer.

Since the Argentine star became a free agent, the world of football has become curious to know his next destination.

Paris Saint-German and Manchester City were believed to be the major contenders.

Manchester City was one of the clubs that showed interest in signing the player when he attempted to leave Barcelona last summer.

However, Marca said Guardiola, on Friday, announced that they are not looking to sign the Argentine.

He said, “We spent on Jack Grealish. He will wear the number 10 [shirt] because we were so convinced with Grealish and we were convinced Leo would continue at Barcelona, so right now he is not in our thoughts.”

Having coached Messi from 2008-2012 at Barcelona, Pep was emotional about the departure of the forward.

“As a fan, I have incredible gratitude for the most extraordinary player I have seen in my life, for the titles he helped to Barcelona, to help me.”

According to the report, the Manchester club’s plans are centred around Tottenham’s Harry Kane.

He added, “If Tottenham don’t want to negotiate, it’s over.

“If they want to, then many clubs will want to sign him [Kane]. We are no exception; we are very interested in him.”
