Mosque Bombing: FG Boosts Security in Maiduguri, Vows to Hunt Terrorists
Vice-President Kashim Shettima has announced that the Federal Government is deploying additional tactical security teams to Maiduguri, Borno State, following the deadly terrorist attack on a mosque in Gamboru Market that left five people dead and several others injured.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Shettima strongly condemned the bomb explosion, describing it as “a despicable assault on innocent citizens and the peace of the nation.”
The vice-president disclosed that President Bola Tinubu has ordered an immediate intensification of security operations in Borno State to track down and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
According to Shettima, the Federal Government is working closely with the Borno State Government, local authorities and security agencies to strengthen the protection of vulnerable communities and critical infrastructure across the North East and other parts of the country.
“The Federal Government will not tolerate any attempt to undermine the peace and security of our nation,” Shettima said.
