Mother of two drenches husband with acid over N15,000 largesse in Rivers
A woman from Akwa Ibom state but married to an Agbonchia indignene in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State, has allegedly drenched her husband with a bottle of acid over a N15,000 largesse distributed in the community for women and children.
The incident, it was gathered, happened in Agbonchia community in Eleme Local Government Area of the state on Saturday morning.
The suspect, a mother of two girls, was attempting to escape after attacking her her husband with the corrosive liquid substance, before she was apprehended by the Nchia security council headed by Comrade Abel Oluka and other youths of Agbonchia community.
Our correspondent, learnt that trouble started after the community distributed cash gifts to indigent women and children of the community, a development which led to a heated argument between the woman and her husband.
The woman following the cash gifts distribution had accused her husband of pocketing her share and that of her girls, an accusation the man denied.

A source in the community said the woman angered by the man’s denial, sourced for a bottle of acid and emptied on the man before escaping from the house.
The community source who pleaded anonymity added that the victim, following the attack was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention, while the woman was apprehended and handed over to the Police in Eleme Division.
The source said, “The woman is a mother of two girls, she poured acid on the face of her husband, took away his ATM card and in her plans to escape she was caught.
“She was seen hiding inside her rooftop ceiling. She accused her husband of not giving her money from the community N15,000 that was shared between them and their children from the host community dividends.”
The Police is yet to comment on the development, when contacted, the state police spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, promised to response soon, but had yet to do so when this report was filed.
