Multiple casualties as truck rams into vehicles on Abuja’s Karu Bridge
A devastating accident occurred Friday on the Karu Bridge in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, when a heavy-duty truck lost control and collided with several vehicles, reportedly resulting in multiple fatalities.
According to eyewitnesses, the truck, which was carrying cement, suffered brake failure while descending Kugbo hill. It plowed into oncoming traffic, crushing vehicles and leaving numerous victims at the scene.
“The driver of the ill-fated truck reportedly took to his heels in the process ìn an attempt to escape after he had sensed danger of possible mob attack after the similar incident that led to the death of many people.”“But luck ran out on him when the commercial motorcyclists near Karu Roundabout apprehended the truck driver in the process,” one witness said.

The accident has drawn comparisons to a similar recent incident on the same Karu Bridge, where a Dangote trailer powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) also lost its brakes, collided with multiple vehicles, and led to a significant number of deaths.
As of the time of reporting, the exact number of casualties in Friday’s crash could not be independently confirmed.
