MURIC Celebrates Abdul-Hameed Over Successful Tenure as Pioneer Rector of Federal Polytechnic Ayede

The Oyo State chapter of the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has congratulated the pioneer Rector of Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed, on the successful completion of his tenure at the institution.

The organisation also celebrated the academic administrator for receiving several recognitions, including the Face of Living Hero of Academic World Award 2025, Best Rector of the Year 2025, and the Fiscal Discipline and Ethics Compliance Award presented by the Centre for Ethics and Self Value Orientation.

This was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the General State Secretary of MURIC in Oyo State, Mallam Ibrahim Agunbiade.

According to the statement, Abdul-Hameed assumed office about five years ago when the Polytechnic was still at a formative stage with minimal physical and administrative structures. MURIC noted that through vision, dedication and purposeful leadership, he transformed the institution into a rapidly developing polytechnic with visible academic and infrastructural growth.

The organisation said the pioneer Rector mobilised capable professionals and deployed his experience to build a strong institutional foundation despite the challenges associated with establishing a new tertiary institution.

“Within five years of focused leadership, Engr. Dr. Taofeek Abdul-Hameed presided over the development of critical physical infrastructure and human capacity that enabled the Polytechnic to commence and expand academic activities,” the statement said.

MURIC added that under his leadership, the institution introduced about 14 academic programmes and began attracting both national and international attention.

It also highlighted the development of the Polytechnic’s permanent site, noting that the campus had been substantially prepared for use within a relatively short period.

The group further commended Abdul-Hameed for establishing strong administrative structures and operational frameworks capable of sustaining the growth and stability of the young institution after his tenure.

MURIC also praised his efforts in promoting staff welfare and institutional harmony through the establishment of staff unions aimed at protecting the interests of workers in the Polytechnic.

The organisation noted that several members of staff benefitted from local and international training programmes during his tenure, which it said enhanced professional competence and institutional productivity.

In addition, the statement acknowledged the supportive role of the institution’s Bursar, Alhaja Rashidah Oladepo, whose contributions to financial management and administrative coordination were described as instrumental to maintaining fiscal discipline within the Polytechnic.

MURIC also commended Abdul-Hameed for strengthening the relationship between the institution and its host communities through deliberate engagement and community-based initiatives.

According to the organisation, the Polytechnic’s Entrepreneurship Development Centre has played a key role in empowering young people with practical skills while fostering stronger ties between the institution and surrounding communities.

The group stressed that pioneering leadership carries unique responsibilities as it sets the tone for future administrations, adding that Abdul-Hameed had set a high standard for pioneer Rectors of federal polytechnics in Nigeria.

“As he bows out of office with honour and distinction, we pray that Almighty Allah rewards his dedication, grant him greater opportunities for service and make his future endeavours even more impactful,” the statement added.
