My father was assassinated in my presence – singer Teni

Nigerian singer Teniola Apata, aka Teni Makaniki, has said the assassination of her father, the late Brig. Gen. Simeon Apata (retd.) in her presence greatly affected her.

Speaking in an interview with media personality Taymesan, Teni disclosed that she was two years old when gunmen stormed their Lagos home and murdered her father in the presence of the family.

The ‘Uyo Meyo’ crooner added that this affected her growing up as she has since developed trust issues.

In the interview, shared Sunday by the host Taymesan on Instagram, Teni said, “Growing up with my father passing at such a young age, the trauma of losing my father at a young age affected me.

“You know, him being assassinated in the presence of all of us and all that stuff. I was 2 at the time.

“Him passing away robbed me of a father figure. It sort of made me have trust issues growing up. Because they [gunmen] came into our house purposely to kill him.”

The late Brig. Gen. Simeon Apata (retd.), was assassinated on January 8, 1995.

Nollywood veteran Shan George weeps as fraudster clears ₦3.6m from her account (VIDEO)

Nollywood veteran, Shan George, has wept in a social media video after her Zenith Bank account was wiped of ₦3.6m by an individual identified as Cecilia Chiagoziem Okoro.

The actress disclosed the incident in a post on her Instagram account on Friday, May 3, 2024.

She appealed to Nigerians to help retrieve her money, which she said was wired into an OPay account.

“I’m left koboless right now, wetin I go eat wit my children 😢😢😢😢. @zenithbankplc @opay.ng please help me, my account at zenith has been wipped clean just now, paid into Opay.

“Pls help me reverse it. Opay customer’s name Cecilia Chiagoziem Okoro. Pls refund my money,” she captioned the video post.

In the video, George said, “I am begging everybody, please Zenith bank, Opay, Abeg make una help me. I take God beg una.

“I don’t have any kobo anywhere again, what will I eat? I no fit beg, I beg una, make una help me.

“EFCC, Nigerian police, abeg, I don’t know the authorities, Zenith bank, I am begging you people.

“It’s just today, 3rd of May, it’s not even up to an hour ago from now that I am doing this video.”

In another video on Saturday, the Nollywood veteran was seen weeping profusely, saying “The worst part is that today is Saturday, I can’t even go to the bank.“

Sanwo-Olu appoints KWAM1’S daughter as aide

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has appointed Basirat Damilola Marshall as the Senior Special Assistant on Tourism.

Damilola Marshall, the daughter of Fuji maestro, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall popularly known as KWAM1, disclosed this on her Instanstory on Instagram Thursday.

Her appointment has been attracting congratulatory messages from Nigerians.

In a recent viral video, KWAM1, during a performance at the coronation and birthday reception of Oba Sikirullah Apena on Thursday, thanked Sanwo-Olu for appointing his daughter into his cabinet.

The fuji singer noted that it was his daughter, Damilola, who asked him to publicly thank the governor for her appointment.

She posted a flier with the logo of the Lagos State Government on her Instastory with, “Contraulations! Barrister Damilola Basirat Ayinde Marshall Esq on being appointed as SSA to the Governor of Lagos on Tourism.”

Congratulating her on the appointment, a Nigerian, Olanrewaju-Smart Wasiu, wrote, “Congratulations Barr. @damimarshall_ on your appointment as the Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Tourism. This is a deserving recognition for your hard work and contributions to our party”, to which she responded by saying “Thank you, sir.”

Another person, Balogun Basia wrote, “Please, join me in congratulating my friend K1 and the entire family on the appointment of my daughter Barrister Basirat Damilola Marshall as the SSA to the governor of Lagos State on Tourism. Damilola, this shall be the beginning of many good things that will come your way and that of your siblings Insha Allah, Alaumoh Amin.”

BREAKING: Popular Gospel singer Morenikeji ‘Egbin Orun’ is dead

Popular Gospel singer Morenikeji Adeleke, also known as Egbin Orun, is dead.

Her death was confirmed in an Instagram post by her colleague Esther Igbekele.

The gospel singer expressed shock and sadness, noting Egbin Orun’s sudden departure without bidding farewell.

According to her, the two had recently spoken, unaware of the impending tragedy.

Igbekele praised Egbin Orun’s beauty, kindness, and strong support for her ministry.

She wrote, “I got home from my program to hear about this great loss.. Prophetess Morenikeji Egbin Orun you left without saying goodbye.. We spoke together last week not knowing you are about to embark on a journey to the great beyond.. You are such a beautiful and kind hearted woman and a very good supporter of my ministry. I am deeply saddened with your demise but God knows best. You will be greatly missed and your good deeds will continue to linger in our hearts. Ah Egbin Orun. Good night! The cause of her death remains undisclosed and no official statement has been issued.
