NAF makes exception for doctors in fresh recruitment (see how to apply)
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Tuesday announced the commencement of applications for its Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) Course 34/2025.
The exercise, which spans August 27 to October 7, 2025, targets professionals in diverse fields including engineering, medical services, and cyber specialities, in line with NAF’s drive to address modern security demands.
According to the requirements released, applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth and aged between 20 and 32 years.
However, medical doctors applying as consultants are allowed within the age bracket of 25 to 40 years.
The guidelines emphasise that the programme is not designed for serving personnel seeking a Branch Commission, especially those above 32 years.

The criteria further stipulate that any serving personnel intending to participate must be “endorsed by a Commanding Officer”, and must have completed at least “ten years in service”, and attained the rank of “Corporal”.
In addition, the Force outlined minimum height requirements of 1.66 metres for men and 1.63 metres for women.
Applicants are also required to be medically, physically, and psychologically fit, and free from any criminal convictions.
Academic qualifications remain central to the process, with NAF stressing that applicants must hold at least a Second Class Upper Division degree, alongside a valid NYSC Discharge Certificate or Letter of Exemption.
The statement also revealed that candidates who meet the requirements will be subjected to a Zonal General Aptitude Test, with dates to be announced on the recruitment portal.
Only those who scale through will be shortlisted for the final selection interview.
