The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), has kick-started market inspections in Bauchi to mop up fake Milo drinks.

Paul Kamai, the state director of NAFDAC, spoke during the exercise on Wednesday.

He said the inspection will last for three days.

“The NAFDAC office began the inspections in markets and superstores to get rid of the fake Milo in circulation following a directive from the Headquarters,”NAN quoted Kamai as saying.

Kamai said that the agency has planned a meeting with agro-chemical dealers’ association leaders to address the harmful effects of chemicals on food products.

“In Bauchi, we will engage the dealers of Agro chemicals against the use of Dictholoruvis and Paraquat chemicals to store food as we approach the harvest period,” he said.

“These are dangerous chemicals that have been banned over time.”

The Bauchi NAFDAC director urged bakers and packaged water producers to renew their licenses within the designated two-year period, adding that non-compliance could lead to penalties that might disrupt their business operations.

Kamai asked small and medium enterprises to obtain NAFDAC registration for their products, enabling them to gain access to the Nigerian market.
