NAHCON Reaffirms Commitment to Early, Orderly 2026 Hajj Preparations

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has reaffirmed its commitment to timely and orderly preparations for the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage, assuring Nigerian pilgrims and stakeholders that all arrangements are on track for a smooth and well-coordinated exercise.

In a statement from Abuja, NAHCON Chairman/CEO Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman highlighted the commission’s focus on early planning, effective coordination, and adherence to international standards to guarantee the welfare and spiritual well-being of Nigerian pilgrims. He said the commission remains fully aligned with the Federal Government’s policy direction under President Bola Tinubu, which prioritizes efficient management and accountability in Hajj operations.

Prof. Usman confirmed that NAHCON is fast-tracking critical preparations, particularly the allocation of accommodation in Makkah, to meet Saudi regulatory timelines and avoid operational delays. To ensure oversight, the commission has deployed a high-level executive delegation to Saudi Arabia, led by the chairman and senior board members, to finalize lodging arrangements and supervise on-ground logistics.

The commission has also strengthened internal governance, monitoring, and coordination mechanisms to guarantee transparency and compliance. Continuous engagement with state Hajj boards, service providers, and Saudi authorities ensures that deadlines are met and standards maintained.

This reassurance comes as NAHCON continues preparatory inspections of accommodations, catering, and transportation services in Madinah and Makkah, while setting clear deadlines for all states and stakeholders to complete their Hajj-related tasks. The commission also promises regular updates through official channels to keep intending pilgrims informed as the 2026 Hajj approaches.

NAHCON’s proactive measures aim to deliver an efficient, safe, and hassle-free pilgrimage, building on lessons from previous Hajj exercises to improve the overall experience for Nigerian pilgrims.
