NAHCON Slashes 2026 Hajj Fare by Over ₦790,000
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced a reduction in the 2026 Hajj fare, following a directive from Vice President Kashim Shettima to make the pilgrimage more affordable for intending pilgrims.
In a statement released by the commission, NAHCON said the new rates reflect a significant downward review from the 2025 Hajj fare, with reductions ranging between ₦748,000 and ₦793,000, depending on the pilgrim’s departure zone.
According to the statement, the Southern Zone recorded the highest reduction of ₦792,943.83, bringing the new fare down to ₦7,991,141.76 from the previous ₦8,784,085.59.
For pilgrims from the Northern Zone, the fare was reduced by ₦760,915.83, setting the new rate at ₦7,696,769.76, while those from the Borno and Adamawa Zone—the lowest nationwide—will now pay ₦7,579,020.96, a decrease of ₦748,104.63.

NAHCON explained that the fare adjustment was made after consultations and cost reviews aimed at easing the financial burden on intending pilgrims across the country.
The commission also announced December 5, 2025, as the payment deadline for all prospective pilgrims, noting that timely payment is essential to secure slots and complete logistical preparations for the 2026 exercise.
“This date is critical for finalizing preparations and securing slots for the 2026 Hajj,” the statement read. “The fare reduction is expected to be widely welcomed by Nigerian Muslims planning to perform the annual pilgrimage, making the journey more accessible.”
The commission expressed optimism that the adjustment would enable more Nigerians to fulfill their religious obligation under improved and affordable conditions.
