Naira Gains N10.43 Against U.S. Dollar as Forex Market Stabilizes
The Nigerian naira has gained N10.43 against the U.S. dollar, reflecting a positive shift in the foreign exchange (forex) market and renewed investor confidence in the local currency.
According to reports, the official exchange rate improved following higher dollar inflows, active Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) interventions, and increased forex liquidity. Traders and analysts noted that this appreciation comes as a welcome relief for importers, exporters, and businesses reliant on dollar transactions, as it reduces import costs and strengthens economic stability.

At the Bureau De Change (BDC) market, the naira also saw improved trading rates, signaling greater market activity and increased demand for the local currency. Experts attribute the gain to coordinated efforts by the CBN to stabilize the naira, combined with boosted foreign exchange inflows from oil exports, diaspora remittances, and other forex-generating sectors.
Economists warn that to sustain the naira’s strength, the government must continue implementing sound monetary policies, support for local production, and diversification of revenue sources, particularly in agriculture, manufacturing, and services that generate foreign exchange.
The recent gain is notable after weeks of pressure on the naira, which had been impacted by high demand for dollars, rising import bills, and global economic uncertainties. The appreciation is expected to have a positive effect on consumer prices, business costs, and overall economic confidence in Nigeria.
