Naira Redesign: APC Trying To Paint A Falling Structure – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) has said plans by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to redesign some naira notes as part of efforts to reboot the economy was akin to just painting a falling structure instead of rebuilding it.

Addressing journalists on Tuesday in Abuja, a Spokesperson of the Campaign, Charles Aniagwu, said the PDP and its leadership “are very much concerned about the level of poverty in Nigeria and the APC administration is doing badly in trying to get our people out of the trench and we are going to give Nigerians the alternative to be able to reverse this trend.”

Aniagwu said the latest in the problems created by the APC administration in the country “was the free fall of our currency or whatever you may call it. A house is falling instead of bringing people to take steps to restructure the house and make it stand you decide to paint the house and think that is the solution to bring back the house to where it is. Our naira today it has no value even in the hands of our people.”

The Delta State information commissioner also said the ruling party is bereft of ideas to rejuvenate the Economy and tackle the present insecurity, adding that, “we want to let you know what is happening and what we are going to do to make it work.”

He also noted that in spite of the challenges in the party they were already moving on with their campaigns, “in spite of what you see as challenges in our party, we are already moving on, the train has left the station which is why we are campaigning, we are the only party that has gone to three states to campaign officially none of the other parties have been able to do that, it was only the other day that one of the parties met somewhere in Nasarawa and of course you saw what happened in terms of the gathering.

“So, if we are ready to move with the train we are also ready at any given time to stop at relevant train station to pick up new passengers including those who are reluctant to join at the moment. So, the PDP is very ready to move ahead is not about the timeline because nothing is stopping us.

“Our presidential candidate, his running mate and the leadership of our party is indeed very interested in recovering our country from where we are today. His visit to the US is because he has got economic policies that speak to the need to bring job back to the people,” he said.
