Namibia stun Tunisia with late goal to record first ever AFCON win

Deon Hotto’s late goal against Tunisia gave Namibia a historic victory at the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast. The match was scoreless until the 88th minute, when Hotto scored a header to give Namibia three points in Group E. Elsewhere, a late penalty from Bertrand Traore helped Burkina Faso to the top of Group D with a 1-0 victory against Mauritania.

Namibia recorded a historic victory at the Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium in Korhogo as they defeated Tunisia 1-0.
The shock results at the Africa Cup of Nations continued in Group E, with Namibia winning their first ever match at the tournament against the 2021 quarter-finalists.

Deon Hotto’s header in the 88th minute was the winner, with Bethuel Muzeu floating a wonderful ball into the penalty box to set up the goal.
It looked like Hotto had secured the victory when he scored a second in stoppage time, but the goal was correctly ruled out for offside.
Tunisia, who won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2004, were unable to find the back of the net as Namibia goalkeeper Lloyd Kazapua put in an impressive performance.
Namibia have now increased their chances of progressing past the tournament’s group stage for the first time ever, but still have Mali and South Africa to play.
