Nasarawa police invade baby factory, rescue victims, arrest suspects

Operatives of  Nasarawa State Police Command have invaded a suspected baby factory located at Ado Kasa in Karu Local Council. The operatives also rescued six young girls and a baby of about six months at St. Bridget Orphanage Home in Karu.

A spokesperson for the Command, Ramhan Namsel, said detectives attached to the Area Command, New Karu, acting based on a tip off, invaded  the suspected baby factory.

The police said that suspects include: Mr. Eze Ezeogu Norbert, Mrs. Nnaemeka Eze, Mrs. Okechukwu Ogechi and Mrs. Obiagheli Chidi.
“Preliminary Investigation revealed that the operator of the illegal orphanage home abducted under-aged pregnant girls, held them hostage till they gave birth and sold their children to the highest bidder.

“Further Investigation also revealed that the Oorphanage home was not registered.

“The suspects and victims have been handed over to National Agency for the Prosecution of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for further investigation and prosecution,” Namsel added.

Meanwhile, the state’s Commissioner of Police (CP), Maiyaki Muhammed Baba, has warned criminals and those nursing ambitions that are inimical to the safety of the state to desist from such acts, as the police will not relent in mobilising  resources to confront and render their operations fruitless.

He urged parents and guardians to take proper care of their children, and also appealed to members of the public to continue to avail the police with credible information that will assist in taming criminals in the state.
