Natasha in court for trial over alleged defamation of Akpabio, Bello

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, on Tuesday appeared before the Federal High Court in Abuja to answer charges of alleged defamation filed against her by the Federal Government.

The case, FHC/ABJ/CR/195/2025, is being prosecuted by Mohammed Abubakar, Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation, under the provisions of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) (Amendment) Act, 2024.

The charges are linked to remarks the senator allegedly made during a public gathering in Ihima on April 4, 2025, and later reiterated in a television interview.

In the statements, Akpoti-Uduaghan reportedly accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of directing former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, to orchestrate her assassination.
