Native Doctor accused of beheading Anambra lawmaker nabbed

Operatives of the Department of State Services in Anambra State have nabbed a Native Doctor and Unubi High Chief, Chief Chukwujekwu Onuorah, popularly known as Egbe-Ejiejeogu, for allegedly beheading a lawmaker in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Okechukwu Okoye, and his aide.

The lawmaker, it will be recalled, was abducted on May 15, 2022, with his head found days later at a motor park.

Okoye’s trunk was to be recovered later in another part of the state.

According to available information, Onuorah, said to be in his 70s, is the blood brother of revered Queen and Founder of the Famous Egedege Cultural Dance, 80-year-old Queen Theresa Onuorah of Unubi in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Information has it that he was technologically trailed after being found to have used the beheaded lawmaker’s sim-card to make criminal calls.

Even after exhausting the sim-card call credit, he completed the calls with his own cell phone to the same number.

The killers of kidnapped and beheaded lawmaker were earlier traced to Onuorah, where ransom running into millions of naira was physically delivered.

Sources said between early hours of May 28 and 29, 2022, the house of the arrested kingpin was raided after he was tracked to be at home.

He was, however, said to have made a magical escape after several gunshots were fired at him by jumping into a ditch.

After recovering several incriminating items, including guns and bullets and his portrait, the operatives trapped him by leaving behind one of his cell phones.

Between the night of May 20, 2022 and the early hours of May 31, 2022, the cell phone was tracked to a private hospital in Awka, forcing the operatives of the DSS to storm the clinic, where he was arrested alive in bandage while trying to board a tricycle, popularly known as Keke.

The DSS Operatives reportedly went back to the arrested kingpin’s ancestral home at Unubi to arrest an aged woman presumed to be his mother.

His wife was said to have gone for “Omugwo” of her daughter who recently delivered in Ekwulobia area of the state.

The operatives had after the arrested kingpin’s earlier escape set ablaze the house, a one storey building and a bungalow, and their fixtures and chattels and burned same to ashes.

Reports suggests that Onuoha works with a band of career criminals and have no affiliation with the Indigenous People of Biafra or the Eastern Security Network.
