Netanyahu vows Israel will strike Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas in Gaza to prevent rebuilding
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared that Israel will do “everything necessary” to prevent Hezbollah from regrouping in Lebanon and Hamas from rebuilding its capabilities in Gaza.
Over the past week, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) conducted multiple strikes in Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah launchers and military sites, while air strikes in Gaza killed 21 people and wounded dozens more, according to Gaza’s civil defence agency. These operations mark one of the deadliest days since the US-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hamas took effect on October 10, following two years of conflict.
Speaking at a cabinet meeting, Netanyahu emphasized, “We are continuing to strike terrorism on several fronts… Since the ceasefire, Hamas has not stopped violating it, and we are acting accordingly.” He also said Israel has thwarted multiple Hamas infiltrations beyond the yellow line—the security boundary within Gaza—aimed at harming Israeli soldiers.

The Israeli military and the domestic Shin Bet security agency reported that the recent strikes eliminated Alaa Haddadeh, who coordinated weapons transfers from Hamas headquarters to field commanders. Netanyahu insisted that Israel acts independently in defending its security, saying, “We decide independently of any factor, and that is how it should be. Israel is responsible for its own security.”
The continuing strikes in both Gaza and Lebanon underline Israel’s commitment to preemptively neutralize threats from armed groups along its borders while countering repeated ceasefire violations by Hamas.
