New tax reform committee chair Oyedele resigns from PwC
Newly appointed Chairman of the Presidential Fiscal Policy & Tax Reform Committee, Taiwo Oyedele, has resigned from PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC).
His resignation followed his recent appointment by President Bola Tinubu as head of the tax reforms committee.
In a tweet announcing his exit, Oyedele said his resignation was to prevent any perceived conflict of interest.
He stated, “After over 2 decades at PwC, I have made the hard but necessary decision to exit the firm.
“This is to enable me to focus fully with undivided attention on my new role as the Chair of the Presidential Fiscal Policy & Tax Reform Committee, which I consider an important national assignment.
“This decision will also prevent any potential distractions from real or perceived conflicts of interest.
“Thank you all once again for your support, best wishes and prayers. May God bless you all, and may God bless Nigeria.”
As chairman of the committee, Oyedele and his team are expected to enhance revenue collection, improve efficiency and ensure transparent reporting.
They have also been asked to promote the effective utilisation of tax and other revenues to boost tax morale of citizens, foster a healthy tax culture, and drive voluntary compliance.
