Nigeria ranked 10th in Africa’s most unsafe countries for women

 

Nigeria has been ranked 10th among Africa’s most unsafe countries for women.

In the global Women Peace and Security Index 2023 which ranked 177 countries in terms of women’s inclusion, justice, and security, Central African Republic was ranked number one while DR Congo and South Sudan were ranked second and third respectively in the list of Africa’s most unsafe countries for women.

Seychelles took the number one spot in Africa’s safest countries for women followed by Cape Verde and South Africa.

The list of top 10 unsafe countries for women in Africa is as follows:

  1. Central African Republic

  3. South Sudan
  4. Burundi
  5. Eswatini
  6. Somalia
  7. Niger
  8. Sudan
  9. Chad
  10. Nigeria

The top 10 African countries safe for women are:

  1. Seychelles
  2. Cape Verde
  3. South Africa
  4. Mauritius
  5. Tunisia
  6. Rwanda
  7. Botswana
  8. Tanzania
  9. Ghana
  10. Sao Tome and Principe
