Team Nigeria is set to win a Silver medal in the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Olympics Games as one of its wrestlers qualified for the final of her event, reports The Gazelle News.com.
Nigeria’s Blessing Oburududu performed the feat on Monday, 2 August, 2021 in Tokyo when when she fought her way into the Olympics final in the 68kg class.
In her semi final match on Monday, Blessing defeated Battsetseg Soronzonboldyn of Mongolia 7-2 to qualify for the final and guaranteed herself and Team Nigeria at least a Silver medal.
Blessing made her intention known earlier in the day when she defeated Elis Manolova of Azerbaijan 13-2 in her first match. She then defeated Meerin Zhumanazarova of Armenia 3-2 in a hard fought quarter final bout before beating Soronzonboldyn in the semi final.
