Nigerian Army Denies Mutiny Claims, Calls Reports a False Alarm
The Nigerian Army has dismissed recent reports suggesting a planned mutiny among its soldiers over salaries, allowances, and welfare concerns, describing the claims as a “false alarm”. The statement, issued by Colonel Appolonia Anele, Acting Director of Army Public Relations, stressed that the allegations are unfounded and misleading.

The Army emphasized that no credible evidence supports the claim of a mutiny and reminded the public that mutiny is a serious offense under military law. Soldiers are trained to address grievances through official channels, ensuring discipline and professionalism within the force.
Authorities also highlighted ongoing initiatives to enhance troop welfare, including salary reviews, operational allowances, improved accommodation, and medical support for soldiers and their families. The Army urged Nigerians to rely on official statements and ignore unverified social media reports that could undermine public trust and national security.
