A television show, Rubbin’ Minds, in collaboration with Lipton Tea, says it has celebrated women making outstanding achievements in male-dominated fields.
According to a statement on Saturday, Rubbin’ Minds commemorated the International Women’s Month with a celebration to spotlight some Nigerian women who were battling all stereotypes and gender inequality, and contributing their quota to nation-building.
It read, “The programme tagged ‘One-month women special,’ spotlighted some of the notable women in various fields, which are Oby Onyediako – a Taxi driver, Kevwe Alajagbo – the lady cobbler, Precious – The Lady Mechanic, and Mesturah Shittu – The Lady Carpenter.”
The Producer, Rubbin’ Minds, Seun Oluyemi, said through the conversations, Lipton brought to light the social expectations and stereotypes that women still had to battle and the part “we all have to play in solving the bigger problem – gender inequality.”
He said, “This is a global event celebrating the milestones women have attained in social, economic, cultural and business fields. And Rubbin’ Minds, in collaboration with Lipton, annually plays a small albeit vital part in that. This year is no different. While the theme may vary, the essence of that celebration remains the same.”
