Nigerians blast as woman urges FG to ban DNA paternity testing

A woman’s call urging the Federal Government to ban the conduct of DNA paternity tests all over the country has sent social media agog.

Simply identified as Benita, the woman, in a statement of X, urged the Federal Government to stop the conduct of DNA paternity testing, alleging it has done “more harm than good.”

Recounting the case of her neighbor, she noted that he found out his daughter was not biologically his after conducting a random DNA paternity test.

Benita’s statement reads, “Nigerian government should please cancel the conduct of DNA tests that shit has done a whole lot of harm than good. My neighbor found out yesterday that he is not the father of his two girls, girls he already trained to university level.”

She added that “the harm it causes to mental health is just too much.”

Reacting to her call for the ban of the test, Mr. Temmy on X rather urged her to blame married women for cheating.

He said, “So how’s DNA’s fault that you want the government to scrap? Instead of blaming the woman for cheating and making him train kids that are not his, you’re talking about DNA.

“Nigerians will see the problem and decide to blame the solution.”

Diane Nte also blamed married women for cheating while she advocated for cheaper DNA paternity test.

“Blame it on the wickedness of some women, like, is it fair to give another person’s child to another man? If the man is impotent, he will accept another, not when he can have his. The man will invest his resources and time in someone else’s child.

“DNA at birth should be made cheaper,” Nte wrote.

For Isabella Awalah, she opines, “I feel DNA should be done at birth before the birth certificate is even issued. It should be mandatory.”

While Enyo Samson argued that “some Nigerian women are gradually seeing infidelity as a norm,” Chinecherem Ukpai states that “only a promiscuous woman is afraid of DNA testing.”

Many others also urged the federal government to make the test mandatory at birth and a cheaper rate.

“The Nigerian government should please make DNA compulsory immediately after birth so the other gender will stop raising children that are not their own,” Eze Precious Chy urged the Federal Government.

Bros. Odinaka argues that it “should be immediately after birth not after spending millions or training in university.”

“DNA should be made cheaper and compulsory at childbirth. Imagine what these women are saying,” Stephen Abata says.

Recounting a personal experience, Ushie Boniface stated that he conducted the test on all his children to confirm they were his.

“Thank God I carried out my DNA in my way; all my children are mine, and I will advise men to monitor children born to them immediately from birth if the child cannot display any family future up to two years; it is not your blood,” Boniface wrote.

Advising men to steer clear of the path of women like Benita, Adams Smad argues that men should conduct the test for health reasons as well.

“Men should watch out for those ladies. If any of you get married, I advise the man to do a DNA test as soon as possible, even before the baby turns one. You both don’t know what you’re saying.

“What if the man got to know because he’s trying to relocate abroad with family?

“What if the man is on a sick bed and needs a donor of some sort, and one of his children decides to donate and later discovers that they’re not of the same blood?” Smad said.

Furthermore, he urged ladies to “pity your men. You don’t have to give your man-children he doesn’t own. Anything can go wrong.”
