NLC threatens First Bank for non-compliance with strike in Adamawa

The Organised Labour in Adamawa state has threatened to withdraw about 20,000 individual Bank Accounts from First Bank in Adamawa state.

The individual accounts who are Staff of 19 Local Governments operating with the Bank are said to be members of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees(NULGE), Nigeria Union of Teachers NUT, Medical and Health Workers Union and other MDAs.

The resolution was reached after the Strike Monitoring Group encountered an alleged wild -revolt and altercation by the Management of First Bank while trying to enforced the National Industrial action which begans on Monday.

The Labour perceived sabotage when the workers of the Bank sighted them and deliberately locked down the gate of the Bank forcing SMG to stay under the scourge of the sun for over 3hrs.

The aggrieved Labour Officials who were visibly angry and felt as an affront on their mandate unanimously resolved to officially write to Adamawa state Government and the Bank authorities to withdraw the individual accounts of their members.

Other Commercial Banks operating along Bank-road cooperated with the Strike Monitoring Team as their gates were under Lock and key.

At the State Secretariat and High Court Complex,all Offices were shut down while some workers were seen in groups perhaps discussing about the Strike.

When Journalists visited the Bank along Bank-road in Jimeta for comment,non of the officials was willing to talk through the fence but only disclosed that their Manager was out of town.
