Dr Uyilawa Okhuaihesuyi and Chris Ngige
The newly elected leadership of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors and the Nigerian Medical Association have met with the Minister of Labour and Rmployment, Chris Ngige, on Tuesday.
The meeting which our correspondent learnt was held behind closed doors was to introduce the new executives of NARD to the minister and to talk about issues prolonging the ongoing industrial action by the resident doctors.
Confirming the meeting to our correspondent, the National President, NARD, Dare Ishaya, also said that some of the issues have been agreed upon.
He said, “Some of the issues we discussed have been agreed upon while some have not.
“We went with the NMA so that we will be introduced to the ministry since we are new.
“By tomorrow, there will be a follow up and I hope to do that. The moment the payments we are expecting are effected, we will convey a NEC meeting and we will decide whether to call off the strike or not.”
