NNPC boss Kyari replies Dangote: I don’t own petroleum blending plant in Malta
Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, Mele Kyari, has firmly rejected allegations made by Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man, concerning the ownership of a blending plant in Malta. During a recent session with the House of Representatives, Dangote claimed that NNPC officials were involved with an oil facility in the Mediterranean island nation.
Kyari, addressing the issue through a social media post on Tuesday, clarified that neither he nor any NNPC employee owns or operates a blending plant in Malta or elsewhere.

He said: “I am receiving numerous inquiries from family, friends, and colleagues about the allegations made by Dangote. To set the record straight, I do not own or operate any business, including blending plants, anywhere globally except for a small local agricultural venture. I am also unaware of any NNPC staff involved in such operations,” Kyari stated.
He further explained that a blending plant, which mixes re-refined motor oil with additives to produce lubricants, does not impact NNPC’s operational or strategic decisions.
Kyari assured that if any NNPC employee is found to be involved in such activities, they will face sanctions according to the company’s compliance grid. He also urged that any implicated individuals be publicly identified and reported to relevant security agencies due to the serious implications for national energy security.
