NNPC boss urges military to sustain war against crude oil theft

The Group CEO of NNPC Ltd., Mr. Mele Kyari, has urged the military to continue its efforts against crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism, highlighting the positive impact these actions have had on the nation’s crude oil production. Kyari appealed this during a Tuesday meeting with the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and senior military officers at the NNPC Towers in Abuja.

Kyari emphasized the importance of maintaining and enhancing security measures, noting that the recent increase in crude oil production is directly linked to the military’s ongoing efforts to protect critical assets, particularly pipeline infrastructure. “We have reached a new peak in production that we haven’t seen in the last three years. This is related to the sustained efforts by the armed forces and other security agencies to protect our critical assets,” Kyari stated.

In his remarks, General Musa explained that the visit was to introduce the Monitoring Team to NNPC Ltd. This team will be responsible for liaising with the company and other stakeholders in the oil-producing regions to ensure the security of critical hydrocarbon infrastructure.

General Musa pledged the military’s continued commitment to improving security and enhancing troops’ performance. He assured that the military would sustain its operations against crude oil theft and regularly assess its capabilities to boost productivity further
