Nollywood Actress and Abia Gov Candidate Doris Ogala Collapses in Umuahia, Hospitalized at FMC

UMUAHIA, Abia State – Nollywood actress and African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate for Abia State ahead of the 2027 electionDoris Ogala, was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Umuahia, on Friday after she lost consciousness and collapsed during a consultation earlier in the day. The incident, which quickly spread across social media, has drawn a flood of reactions — from concern and prayers to skepticism and accusations of a publicity stunt. Within hours of her hospitalization, Ogala took to Instagram to confirm the episode, reassure her followers, and even share videos of herself praying with other patients at the facility. Reports also later emerged that she paid medical bills for several indigent patients while receiving treatment. This health scare comes at a pivotal moment in her life, just weeks after she secured the AAC governorship ticket, positioning herself to challenge incumbent Governor Alex Otti in the fiercely competitive Abia 2027 gubernatorial race.

According to reports accompanied by a video circulating online, Ogala lost consciousness while attending a consultation in Umuahia on Friday. She was immediately rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, where medical personnel attended to her and successfully stabilised her condition. Details of the specific medical emergency have not been officially released, but unconfirmed online reports suggested the collapse may have been linked to a recent surgery relapse. Neither Ogala nor her campaign team has issued a formal medical statement addressing the cause.

Shortly after being stabilized, Ogala took to her Instagram page to update her followers. She posted a video showing her seated in a wheelchair at the hospital, interacting warmly with patients and healthcare workers. “I was rushed to FMC Umuahia. I lost consciousness. Glory to God I am stabilised now,” she wrote in the caption. In the footage, the actress was also seen praying alongside some patients at the facility, a gesture that drew praise from many of her supporters.

Beyond her own recovery, reports emerged that the AAC governorship candidate extended financial support to other patients at the hospital. According to multiple social media posts and unconfirmed reports, Ogala paid medical bills for a number of indigent patients who were unable to settle their hospital expenses. Some posts claimed she acted after receiving “direct instructions from God” to assist them. While the reports have not been independently verified, the gesture generated significant positive commentary, with supporters describing it as compassionate, thoughtful, and encouraging.

Ogala’s hospitalization comes just weeks after she emerged as the African Action Congress (AAC) flagbearer for the 2027 Abia State governorship election. She secured the party’s ticket following a primary election and has since positioned herself as a challenger to Governor Alex Otti, who is widely expected to seek another term under the Labour Party. Her political message has centered on people-focused governance, economic development, and employment opportunities. She has also been vocal in criticizing the current administration, promising a fresh direction for the state. Political observers note that her sudden health scare could affect campaign momentum if not properly addressed, though her rapid return to social media and hospital interactions suggest an effort to remain visible.

The incident generated widespread reactions across social media platforms, with opinions sharply divided. Many fans and political supporters expressed genuine concern for her health, urging her to prioritize recovery over political activities. Those who praised her for praying with patients and paying medical bills described the gestures as thoughtful and encouraging. “Despite her own condition, she still thought of others. That is leadership,” one commenter wrote. However, a significant number of social media users questioned the circumstances surrounding the incident. Some described the episode as a possible publicity move linked to her political aspirations, citing her background in the Nollywood movie industry. Several commentators labeled the situation as “acting” or “drama,” suggesting the collapse was staged to generate sympathy and media attention ahead of the 2027 election cycle. “She is an actress. This is just a script,” another user posted. Others simply expressed worry about her physical fitness for the rigors of political office, arguing that she should focus on her health before proceeding with her governorship ambition.

As of the time of this report, no official medical statement has been released by Doris Ogala, her campaign team, or the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, regarding the exact cause of her collapse. Indications suggest she remains under observation while continuing her recovery.

For readers seeking a quick summary of the key details, the following information has been confirmed. Doris Ogala is a Nollywood actress and the African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate for Abia State in the 2027 election. She collapsed and lost consciousness during a consultation in Umuahia on Friday and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, where she was stabilized. She confirmed the incident on Instagram, writing, “I was rushed to FMC Umuahia. I lost consciousness. Glory to God I am stabilised now.” Unconfirmed reports suggested the collapse may be linked to a recent surgery relapse. She was also seen praying with patients and reportedly paid medical bills for several indigent patients at the hospital. Social media reactions have been mixed, ranging from genuine concern and praise to accusations of a publicity stunt, with some commentators citing her Nollywood background. No official medical statement has been released as of this report.

Court restrains Lizzy Anjorin from posting Priscilla Ojo’s son’s photos

A Lagos State High Court has restrained Nollywood actress Lizzy Anjorin from publishing, posting, circulating or broadcasting photographs of the one-year-old son of actress Priscilla Ojo and her Tanzanian singer husband, Juma Jux.

The interim order was granted ex parte on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, by Justice Yetunde Adesanya of the Lagos State High Court, sitting at the Lagos Judicial Division, in Suit No. LD/ADR/6646/2026.

The suit was filed by Priscilla Ojo, identified in the court document as Mrs Priscilla Ajoke Ojo Mkambala, her husband, Juma Mussa Mkambala, and their son, Master Rakeem Mkambala, against Anjorin.

Priscilla made the development public on Friday after sharing a certified true copy of the court order on her Instagram page.

According to the order, Anjorin, whether acting personally or through her agents, representatives, employees, privies or anyone acting under her authority, has been restrained from publishing, posting, circulating, uploading or broadcasting photographs of the child on her social-media platforms.

The platforms specifically mentioned in the order are Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and TikTok.

The court stated that the restriction would remain in force pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice filed in the suit.

The order specifically directs the respondent and persons acting under her authority to refrain from publishing or distributing the child’s pictures through the social-media accounts identified in the court document.

Among the accounts listed are @lizzyanjorin_originallawal, @lizzyanjorin_original, @lizzyanjorin_legal_mrslawal and @yeyemesho_luxuryfabric1.

A Facebook page identified as Lizzyanjorin2 was also listed.

The court’s directive does not stop at photographs of Priscilla Ojo’s son. In a separate portion of the order, Anjorin was also restrained from publishing, posting or broadcasting what the court described as “editorials” concerning the applicants through the specified social-media platforms.

The order directs Anjorin and anyone acting under her authority to “cease and desist” from broadcasting, publishing and posting editorials concerning the applicants through the listed accounts.

The order was made ex parte, which means the application was considered by the court at that stage without the respondent being present or heard.

It is therefore important to note that the latest directive is an interim court order, rather than a final judgment determining the substantive dispute between the parties.

The restrictions will remain subject to further proceedings, particularly the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice.

The court also directed that the case file be returned to the Registry of the High Court of Lagos State for reassignment to the appropriate division.

The order was signed and sealed by the Legal Registrar, Omokhudu-Omahoin Onivenu, and issued under the hand of the court on September 2, 2026.

The latest development is the newest chapter in a long-running public dispute involving Lizzy Anjorin and members of Priscilla Ojo’s family, particularly Priscilla’s mother, actress Iyabo Ojo.

The disagreement between Anjorin and Iyabo Ojo has played out publicly on social media for several years and has previously resulted in legal action.

Iyabo Ojo had filed a ₦1bn defamation suit against Anjorin, but the case was dismissed by a Lagos State High Court in July 2025 over procedural defects in the originating processes. The court also awarded ₦500,000 in costs against Iyabo Ojo’s lawyer.

The earlier defamation case is separate from the latest suit filed by Priscilla Ojo, Juma Jux and their son.

In recent public exchanges, Anjorin has also made claims questioning the parentage of Priscilla Ojo’s son. The claims have not been independently verified and are not established by the latest court order.

Rakeem, whose full name is Rakeem Ayomide Mkambala, was born in Canada in August 2025.

His parents largely kept his face away from public view during his first year. However, Priscilla and Juma publicly unveiled his face in August 2026 as they celebrated his first birthday.

The family’s decision to reveal the child’s face attracted considerable attention online, with photographs and birthday messages shared across social-media platforms.

The latest court action comes against that backdrop, with the legal dispute now focusing specifically on the publication and circulation of the child’s photographs and other specified content concerning the applicants.

The court order does not determine the truth or otherwise of any allegations previously made by either side. Instead, it sets temporary restrictions pending further proceedings in the case.

As of the latest available reports, Lizzy Anjorin had not publicly responded to the new court order.

The case is expected to proceed as the court considers the applicants’ substantive application and any response that may be filed by Anjorin.

For now, the actress is restrained from publishing, posting, circulating, uploading or broadcasting Rakeem Mkambala’s photographs through the social-media platforms and accounts specifically identified in the interim order.

The development also highlights the growing role of Nigerian courts in disputes involving social-media publications, privacy and family-related content, particularly where parties seek urgent restrictions on the dissemination of personal images or information online.

Mama G Advises Parents: Don’t Shield Children from Life’s Struggles

Veteran Nollywood actress Mama G recalls selling buns and chicken to survive before stardom, warns parents against over-pampering children.

Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor, popularly known as Mama G, has urged parents to resist the temptation to make life completely comfortable for their children, arguing that some struggle can prepare them for adulthood. Ozokwor said children who grow up without understanding the effort required to provide basic comforts may struggle to appreciate or sustain what their parents worked hard to build. “When you say, ‘I don’t want my children to suffer what I suffered when I was growing up,’ okay, that’s the best way to destroy your children,” she said. “I’m not saying allow them to suffer. What I’m saying is allow them to struggle. Go through the process.” The actress spoke in an interview with Femi Bassey TV on YouTube, shared on Wednesday, September 1, 2026. Reflecting on the difficult experiences that shaped her own journey to success, Ozokwor said the lesson was not simply about enduring hardship but learning responsibility through the process of working for what one wants.

She recalled that before becoming established in Nollywood, she sold food at movie locations and audition venues to raise money for transportation. “There was a time I was frying buns. When I first came into the industry, I would prepare chicken and dress it well. I would prepare buns for anyone you want to buy them.” According to her, the small-scale food business became one of the ways she supported herself as she pursued opportunities in the movie industry. She said she would take the food to audition places, where people would buy from her, and she would save the proceeds to cover her transportation and other expenses. The actress said her willingness to work and fend for herself was part of the resilience she developed from a young age. “I really struggled to get to where I am today. It wasn’t flowery; it wasn’t an easy thing. My life is full of spirituality, deep prayer. When others are sleeping, I am praying,” she said.

Ozokwor also spoke about the sacrifices she made during her marriage, explaining that she never pressured her husband to provide the kind of lifestyle she saw other women enjoying. “Some women, when they get married, they tell their husbands, ‘This one bought a car for his wife, this one bought a house for his wife. What are you not doing?'” she said. According to the actress, she understood her husband and chose to work with what they had rather than compare him with other men. “I didn’t wait for my husband. I knew the kind of person he was. I studied my husband. I buttoned up and tightened my belt, and I struggled.” The situation became even more challenging when her husband battled serious health problems for several years. “Incidentally, he was sick for so many years. It was a horrible sickness — diabetes and hypertension together — and it was a struggle.” At a time, her children also grew up and began helping her run the household, which she believes helped shape them into the responsible adults they are today.

Using her personal experience, Ozokwor urged parents to resist the temptation to make life completely comfortable for their children, arguing that some struggle can prepare them for adulthood. She said children who grow up without understanding the effort required to provide basic comforts may struggle to appreciate or sustain what their parents worked hard to build. “When you say, ‘I don’t want my children to suffer what I suffered when I was growing up,’ okay, that’s the best way to destroy your children,” she said. “I’m not saying allow them to suffer. What I’m saying is allow them to struggle. Go through the process.” The actress said she deliberately ensured that her children also understood that comfort comes with responsibility and that family wealth should not become an excuse for laziness. She recalled that three of her sons helped with construction work while they were university students, stressing that she wanted them to understand the effort involved in creating the life they enjoyed. “I don’t say that your children will go through all the pains you went through, but let them go through little pains. Then they will know that it is not easy to make,” she said.

Ozokwor further warned parents against giving their children everything without teaching them how to preserve, multiply and work for what they receive. “But when you pamper them, they don’t come out to be anything,” she said. “Don’t get this on a platter of gold. It’s not easy. Your father built three houses, four houses and you think you can balance on eating it.” She also spoke about family wealth, saying children should not simply expect to inherit everything their parents worked for. “Keep the things that you have and let them know that you go get yours, this is mine,” she added. The actress revealed that she applied the same approach to her own son, telling him to work for his own home instead of assuming that her house belonged to him. “I told my son, my house isn’t yours, go and work for your own,” she said. Ozokwor said the lessons her children learned from watching her struggle have helped them become self-reliant, adding that they are now comfortable because they understand the sacrifices that went into building the family’s success. “My children know the pains of making life better and that’s why they are all comfortable now, struggling on their own,” she said.

Nollywood Actress Atinuke Kareem Dies After Brave Battle with Breast Cancer

The Yoruba film industry mourns another loss as the actress passes away just days after veteran actor Taiwo Hassan (Ogogo) succumbed to stage-four cancer.

The Nigerian entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning once again following the death of Nollywood actress Atinuke Remilekun Kareem, who passed away on Tuesday after a prolonged battle with breast cancer. The Ogun State chapter of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) confirmed her passing. The association’s Executive Governor, Owolabi Ajasa, announced the sad news in a statement that acknowledged the collective efforts made to support the actress during her illness. Atinuke’s death comes at a particularly difficult time for the Yoruba film industry, which has lost several entertainers to cancer in recent weeks, including veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, who died just days earlier from stage-four cancer.

The depth of Atinuke’s struggle became publicly known about four months before her death when she released a heartfelt video appealing to Nigerians for financial assistance to fund her cancer treatment. In the emotional video, Atinuke revealed that her family had spent a significant amount of money on her medical care and that while her association, TAMPAN, had contributed, it was still not enough to cover her mounting medical bills. She made a desperate plea, stating, “Don’t allow me to die this way; I have two young children. Nigerians, please help me with any amount you can use to help.” Her plea drew an outpouring of sympathy and financial support from fans, colleagues, and well-wishers across the country.

In a statement signed by the association’s Public Relations Officer, Femi Solaja, on behalf of Ajasa, TAMPAN expressed deep gratitude to everyone who contributed to Atinuke’s treatment. “We sincerely appreciate everyone who contributed financially, offered prayers, encouragement, and support towards the treatment of our dear colleague, Atinuke Remilekun Kareem. Your kindness and sacrifice during her difficult moment meant so much to her family and all of us. We are deeply grateful,” the statement read. The association, however, lamented that despite all the efforts and prayers, the actress succumbed to the illness. “Sadly, despite all our efforts and prayers, Atinuke has passed on and answered the final call. We cannot question the Almighty God. We can only submit to His will and pray that He grants her eternal rest and gives her family, colleagues, and loved ones the strength to bear this painful loss,” the association added.

Atinuke Kareem was well known for her appearances in numerous Yoruba-language productions. She was recognised for her vibrant energy, comic timing, and ability to portray lively, relatable characters, which made her a familiar face to home video audiences across Nigeria and in the diaspora. She was notably among the cast of Ronke Odusanya’s popular comedy series Sàlàyé È, a production that featured other prominent actors such as Mercy Aigbe, Babatunde Hamzat, and Esther Kalajaiye. Atinuke is survived by her two young children and other family members. Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by TAMPAN and her family in due course.
