Northern Yoruba youths call for total boycott of planned protests
Yoruba youths in the northern part of the country have called for a total boycott of the nationwide protests being planned by some individuals in the country.
This call was made during a meeting held in Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State, on Monday, where the youths discussed the current state of the nation.
In a communique issued by Seyi Olorunsola, the co-chair of the Northern Yoruba Youths’ Forum, the meeting focused on various issues affecting the youth and the Yoruba ethnic group, particularly those living in the northern region.
According to the communique, the forum after a robust deliberations, adopted several resolutions which cut across calling on government to address the present economic challenges in the country as well as the need for youths to shun the planned nationwide strike.
” The group acknowledges the current economic challenges in Nigeria and their severe impact on ordinary Nigerians, especially the youth.
” We call on the government to take all necessary measures within its power to alleviate the suffering of the people.

” Advocating for Cordial Youth-Government Engagement:
We call on youths to engage with authorities through more constructive means to address their concerns. Protests could potentially disrupt the already fragile economy and have the likelihood of turning violent.”
The forum also resolved that no Yoruba youth, whether in Nigeria or abroad, particularly those in the South Western parts of the country, especially in Lagos—the capital of the Yoruba homeland—should participate in the planned protests.
” By this resolution, the Group and Yoruba youths, in general, express their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policies and programs, ensuring that these initiatives have ample time to achieve their intended outcomes,” the communique read.
