Bandit kingpin, Dangote, siblings killed in Katsina

A notorious bandit who had been terrorising some parts of Katsina and Zamfara states, popularly known as Dangote, has reportedly been killed by a rival gang.

The incident occurred during a gun battle in the early hours of Sunday, where Dangote and his two brothers were killed by a gang led by Kachalla Dankarami, also known as Goska.

According to reliable sources from the Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State, both gangs had been heavily armed and had been terrorising communities in the region for an extended period.

The confrontation took place at Dunmurun in Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, where Dankarami’s gang ambushed Dangote and his group.

It was gathered that the conflict escalated from a dispute over the theft of a flock of sheep, where one of Dankarami’s boys was killed by Dangote’s gang.

The incident led to retaliatory actions, with Dankarami mobilising his forces to confront Dangote’s group.

Locals said after Dangote’s brother, Sale Lamo, was killed by Dankarami’s gang, Dangote and his fighters launched a reprisal attack.

“However, they were unaware that Dankarami’s gang had already set up an ambush. The ensuing battle lasted until early Sunday morning, resulting in casualties on both sides,” one of the sources said.

It was further learnt that the rivalry between Dangote and Dankarami had been ongoing, with clashes over territorial control along the Katsina-Zamfara border. These conflicts have claimed the lives of numerous gang members in the past.
