Notorious bandit leader Kachalla gunned down in Zamfara

Kachalla Ibrahim Gurgun Daji, a notorious bandit leader known for his reign of terror in Zamfara State, was killed by a rival faction on Sunday, October 13, 2024.

The incident occurred in Kwanar Nasiru, east of Mada town in Gusau Local Government Area, and his body was left at the scene.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, Gurgun Daji was infamous for leading violent attacks along the Kwatarkwashi-Mada road and surrounding areas.

His criminal activities, including kidnapping and banditry, made him a feared figure in the region.

His base of operations was located in Shangel village, east of Mada town, where he also reportedly harbored other criminals, such as Bello Taggoje.

Gurgun Daji’s influence in Zamfara’s criminal underworld extended to the purchase and handling of kidnapped victims, further cementing his dominance.

He commanded a large group of followers who were involved in various acts of banditry and terror across the region.

“The d@ath of Kachalla Ibrahim Gurgun Daji marks a significant development in the fight against banditry in Zamfara State, as he was considered a key figure in the region’s network of armed criminals,” the counter insurgency expert added.
