NSE moves for engineering advancement with week-long activities

The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Ikeja Branch, will today begin its annual week-long engineering programmes.

it is scheduled to hold till Friday.

According to Chairman Planning Committee, Nimot Muili, the theme is ‘Co-Creating Thriving Future: Engineering Integrated Systems for Regenerative Prosperity’

The event, she said, would explore how engineering can play a crucial role in fostering sustainable development and driving prosperity through innovative and integrated systems.

“The programme aims to bring together engineers, industry leaders, policymakers, and the community to engage in insightful discussions, hands-on activities, and collaborative efforts that promote the advancement of engineering in Nigeria,” she added.

Giving details of the activities, Muili said there would be media appearances to be followed on Tuesday by the official opening and technical tour to Apapa where participants will gain firsthand insights into the engineering challenges and innovations within one of Nigeria’s busiest ports.

On Wednesday, a Colloquium named in honour of Ademola Olorunfemi, a distinguished engineer, will feature thought-provoking presentations and discussions on the intersection of engineering, culture, and societal progress.

Thursday would witness Community Development Project, Young Engineers Day, and Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Muili said the day is dedicated to giving back to the community through engineering projects, followed by activities aimed at inspiring the next generation of engineers.

The highlight of the week is the Dinner and Award Night. Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Abiola Kosegbe, will deliver a Keynote address.

Muili added, “Our theme this year reflects the growing need for integrated and innovative engineering solutions that address the complex challenges of our time. We have curated a programme that not only highlights these challenges but also provides a platform for actionable outcomes.”

NSE Ikeja Branch Chairman, Femi John Adedotun, emphasized the importance of the theme, stating, “As engineers, we hold the key to shaping a sustainable future. This week is not just about celebrating our profession, but about coming together to co-create solutions that will ensure regenerative prosperity for generations to come.”
